ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Missy Modesitt
For Christmas seven years ago, my mother-in-law gave me a beautiful glass focal bead that she bought from the artist that created it. The look and feel of this pendant fascinated me. It wasn’t long after that when I started making jewelry, stringing purchased beads. The time came that I wanted to make my own beads and as luck would have it; my uncle’s friend was selling a complete glass studio. My husband shared a portion of his workshop and I got busy learning the art of lampwork through classes and videos.
That was four years ago and I have learned much along my journey. My studio is located just outside of New Castle, Indiana on a peaceful country road. In addition to being a glass artist, I am married to my high school sweetheart, mother of three children and a fulltime college administrator.
My work is influenced by current fashion and I often find myself designing beads as I look at the outfits of the people around me. I love whimsical designs but have recently been working on beads that have a more natural quality with earth tones and silver combined. I continue to learn and grow as an artist and am always looking forward to my next session at the torch.
Samples of her work coming soon!
